API's 9D LADAR (Laser Detection and Ranging) captures geometric and dimensional data with innovative technology that promises to revolutionize automated measurement in production. The patented non-contact system is based on interferometry and uses Optical Frequency Circle Interferometry (OFCI) technology. With a fast 20 kHz laser chirp, it generates an optical interference spectrum that significantly increases the accuracy of measurements. This temporal detection method is 100 times more sensitive than traditional phase detection methods.
